About Wendy

Thank you for visiting my website, where you can get a glimpse into my world!  I am a formally trained artist and designer with two very distinct sides-- textile design and fine art.

When it comes to my original surface pattern and textile design, my style is whimsical, happy, and childlike.  You can check out that side of me and my designs at www.lulet.com.  Lulet designs can be found on a variety of products ranging from fabric to phone cases to garden flags to wallets.

This website celebrates my other side, fine art.  Long before I was a surface pattern designer, I have been a multimedia artist.  My work explores themes of identity, belonging, emotion, and the concepts of place and time.  I use a variety of size, textures, and media to express myself; I like to mix "high" art and "low" art. I am passionate about everything vintage, and my themes are sometimes expressed through a historical lens.

I'm inspired by the ordinary and the unusual alike; I love old photos, letters, and found objects.  An idea will come to me at any place and at any time--sometimes even in the middle of the night where I feel compelled to get out of bed to write it down.  As I work, sometimes I direct the project, and other times I feel as though the project directs me.

This website is a work in progress as I upload my artwork. The current piece that is featured, "A Moment in Time," was on display at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC from March 2016 - January 2017, the Tacoma Art Museum in Washington state from February 4, 2017 to May 14, 2017, The

Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi, TX from June 8, 2017 to September 10, 2017, and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, MO from October 6, 2017 to January 7, 2018.
